Moving Tips for Safe Transportation of Your Goods:

Moving Tips :
Let us discuss some tips of moving. These tips will help you to move from your old to new location.
Before Moving:
» Items you don’t need anymore, don’t take them with you.
» Keep the valuable items such as jewelry, money, coin collections, etc in your possession only.
» Confirm dates and services to be performed with your move coordinator
» Make a list of all the items you want to move
» Make a list of items that will need special handling such as glass table tops, marble tops, heavy mirrors or pictures
» Mark each box with its contents and destination room

During Loading and Delivery:
» At the time of loading, check the entire house to ensure nothing was left behind. Before signing the inventory list of the transport service provider compare it with your own list.
» Blanket wrap all furniture, tables and chairs prior to moving them from your residence in order to fully protect them during the entire moving process. Don’t remove the pads until the furniture piece is to be put in place in the new residence. Secure the pads over the top and down all the 4 sides and even under the bottom of the furniture piece. This way it is fully protected no matter how you carry it or which way you set it down.
» At unloading, make sure to check off each item as it is delivered. Report all the loss and damage to the service provider within their specified time. Tour the new residence before the driver leaves to ensure everything is in the right place.
» Parking near your residence should be easily accessible for your truck. Do whatever you can to reserve adequate parking for your moving truck. Reserve spaces with your car, a friend's car, or saw horses. See your alderman or the police department to get no parking signs to save the spaces for the day of your move. Remember the moving van cannot block the street. Also, if your moving people have to walk half a block with your furniture because they could not block a street or an alley then the move will take a lot longer.
» Ask the Driver to assemble anything that has been disassembled and ensure that all parts are there.

Some More Tips:
» Never hurry when carrying a load. Take your time and if the load's heavy, set it down periodically and rest. Your strength will last longer with occasional rests.
» When carrying big furniture using 2-3-4 men be sure you can hear one another and that you all speak the same language. Use simple, short commands that can be yelled to one another when visibility is restricted like pick and set and go and stop and backup!
» Organize your work area to eliminate unnecessary redundant lifting or moving.
» If walking over snow or ice or water or over a padded glossy hardwood floor take extra care to stay balanced and to not slip.
Use strong boxes and containers that can be secured tightly. Purchase special boxes for dishes, wardrobe and other special items or confirm it with your packer.
» Avoid loading more than 100 Kilograms into one box.
» Plan your move early, if possible. Notify your postal service. Change banks, if necessary. Put in change of addresses to all subscriptions and other mailings. Make sure you have a reservation for the equipment you need for the move: trucks, dollies, and other moving items. Have plenty of rope, tape and moving boxes on hand for packing and tying down.
» Leave lightweight linens and clothing in their drawers. Pack extra linens, pillows and stuffed animals in large garbage bags and tape closed. Plan to use these bags as cushions or fillers in your trailer.
» Disassemble any items you can. Be aware of items with sharp corners or projections and keep them from puncturing or scratching other objects.
» Pack your valuables and essentials separately and plan on keeping these items with you. You should keep all the Keys of old as well as new destination with you so that you don't have to search for when you arrive at new destination, or old keys are to be surrendered to someone else.
